Crochet Patterns

Materials:
Two skeins of white J & P Coats Lustersheen
White Pony Beads (140)
3 yards White 1/2 to 3/8" ribbon
Steel crochet hook size 4

Notes:
String beads onto Lustersheen prior to start of crochet
Shell = 5 dc in same stitch
To add bead into sc: Insert hook into specified stitch, YO and pull through the stitch (two loops on hook), slide bead to hook, YO and pull through two loops.

Instructions:
Ch 4, sl st to form ring
Rnd 1: Ch 3, work 11 dc in the ring, sl st in top of beg ch-3 to join. (12 dc)
Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each dc around, sl st in top of beg ch-3 to join. (24 dc)
Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc in same st, dc in next dc, (2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc) around, sl st in top of beg ch-3 to join (36 dc),
Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc in same st, dc in next 2 dc, (2 dc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc) around, sl st in top of beg ch-3 to join. (48 dc)
Rnd 5: Ch 3, dc in same st, dc in next 3 dc, (2 dc in next dc, dc in next 3 dc) around, sl st in top of beg ch-3 to join. (60 dc)
Rnd 6: Ch 3, dc in same st, dc in next 4 dc, (2 dc in next dc, dc in next 4 dc) around, sl st in top of beg ch-3 to join. (72 dc)
Rnd 7: Ch 3, dc in same st, dc in next 5 dc, (2 dc in next dc, dc in next 5 dc) around, sl st in top of beg ch-3 to join. (84 dc).
Rnd 8-10: Ch3, dc in each dc around, sl st in top of beg ch-3 to join.
Rnd 11: Ch 5 (counts as dc plus ch 2 throughout), sk 2 dc, dc in next dc, ch 2, (sk next 2 dc, dc in next dc, ch 2) around, sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-5 to join. Begin working in BL (back loops) only
Rnd 12: Ch 1, turn, sc with bead in same st, sk next ch-2 sp, shell in next dc, (sc with bead, sk next ch-2 sp, shell in next dc) around, joining with sl st in beg sc.
Rnd 13-21: Sl st to 3rd dc of shell, ch 1, sc with bead, sk next 2 dc, shell in next sc, (sk next 2 dc, sc with bead in next dc, sk next 2 dc, shell in next sc) around, join with sl st in beg sc.

Begin working in both loops
Rnd 22: Ch 5, turn, sk next 2 dc, (dc in next dc, ch 2, sk next 2 dc, dc in next sc, ch 2) around, sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-5 to join.
Rnd 23: Ch 3, dc in next 2 ch, (dc in next dc, dc in next 2 ch) around, sl st in top of beg ch-3 to join. (84 dc)
Rnd 24-25: Ch 3, dc in each dc around, sl st in top of beg ch-3 to join.
Rnd 26: Ch 6 (counts as tr plus ch 2), sk next 2 dc, tr in next dc, ch 2, (sk next 2 dc, tr in next dc, ch 2) around, sl st in 4th ch of be ch-6 to join.
Rnd 27: Ch 4, tr in next 2 ch, (tr in next tr, tr in next 2 ch) around, sl st in top of beg ch-4 to join. (84 tr)
Rnd 28: Ch 1, sc in same sp, sk next 2 tr, shell in next tr, sk next 2 tr, (sc in next tr, sk next 2 tr, shell in tr, sk next 2 tr) around, sl st in beg sc to join. Finish off, weaving in ends.

Cut ribbon into 4 pieces of equal length. Weave one piece of ribbon through ch-2 sp of Rnd 26, entering and exiting in same sp, leaving extra at each end for purse strings. Repeat from opposite side of the bag with a second piece of ribbon. Tie loose ends. (When strings are pulled opposite of each other, bag will close.)

Optional: Weave remaining pieces of ribbon into rnds 11 and 22.

Beaded Purse Pattern 2

Pattern Note: Use two strands of thread throughout

Gauge: 1 shell and 1 sc make 1 1/4 inches.

Materials:
Cotton #10, 7 small balls or 3 large ones
Aluminum Hook C or 2

Directions:
Bag Piece: Starting at bottom, ch 34 very loosely to measure 11 inches.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, *skip next ch, 5 dc in next ch (shell made), skip next ch, sc in next ch. Repeat from * across (8 shells and 9 sc on row). Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sc in each sc and each dc across. (49 sc). Ch 3, turn.
Row 3: 2 dc in 1st sc (half shell), *skip 2 sc, sc in next sc, skip 2 sc,shell in next sc. Repeat from * across, ending with skip 2 sc, 3 dc in last sc (half shell). Ch 1, turn.
Row 4: Sc in each dc and in each sc across, sc in top of turning chain (49 sc). Ch 1, turn.
Row 5: Sc in 1st sc, *skip 2 sc, shell in next sc, skip 2 sc, sc in next sc. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn.
The last 4 rows (2nd to 5th rows incl) constitute the pattern. Repeat the pattern until piece measures 7 inches, ending with the 4th row. Break off.
Attach thread to opposite side of starting chain at bottom, ch 1 and work another 7 inches to correspond. Break off.

Gusset (Make 2): Starting at center, ch 33 to measure 6 1/2 inches.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, 3 sc in last ch; then, working along opposite side of starting chain, make sc in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.
Rows 2-3: Sc in each sc across, increasing 3 sc evenly across end of piece. Ch 1, turn. At end of 3rd row, break off.
Fold bag piece in half, pin gussets between side edges (curved ends at bottom), then fasten them in place by working sc through both thicknesses around. Fold top edges of gussets in half and fasten in same way to top edges of bag piece. Then work sl st in each sc around. Break off. Line with buckram and felt or lining material. Sew zipper across center 8 inches of top edge. Sew beads to sides.

Handle: Ch 6. Join with sl st to form ring.
Rnd 1: Sc in each ch around (6 sc).
Rnd 2: Sc in each sc around (6 sc). Repeat 2nd rnd until piece measures 10 inches. Break off. Slip end of this piece through a plastic ring and sew ends together.

Zipper Pull: Ch 4.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in 2 ch. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd row until piece measures 1 1/2 inches. Break off. Fold one end of piece over plastic ring and sew close to ring. Sew other end to zipper pull.
