MATERIALS:

3/8" Flat (Spokes)
1/4" Flat (Fillers)
#2 Round Reed (Twine For Base)
1/4" Flat Oval (Weavers And Rim Row)
11/64" Flat Oval (Weavers - Natural & Dyed)
3/8" Flat Oval (Rims)
Seagrass
3" Stoneware Handle & Twisted Wire


Preparation:
Cut From 3/8" Flat: 5 Spokes At 16" - Horizontal
Cut From 3/8" Flat: 7 Spokes At 14" - Vertical
Cut From 1/4" Flat: 4 Spokes At 12" - Fillers

Base:
Lay out the 5 spokes at 16" horizontally with the 1/4" fillers in between. Weave a vertical spoke at 14" beginning over the 3/8" spokes and under the 1/4" spokes, matching up center marks. Weave the remaining 6 spokes - 3 to the left and 3 to the right of center spoke. True base to measure 3" wide X 5 1/2" long. Tuck the filler spokes under the 3rd spoke from each end. Twine 1 time around the base.

Weave:
Rows 1, 2 & 3 - 1/4" flat oval natural (1st row is over center spoke)
Row 4 - 11/64" flat oval natural
Row 5 - 11/64" flat oval dyed
Row 6 - 11/64" flat oval natural
Row 7 - 11/64" flat oval dyed
Row 8 - 11/64" flat oval natural
Row 9 - 11/64" flat oval dyed
Row 10 - 11/64" flat oval natural
Row 11 - 11/64" flat oval dyed
Row 12 - 11/64" flat oval natural
Rows 13, 14 & 15 - 1/4" flat oval natural

Cut and tuck spokes as usual, place handle on basket, the third spoke on each end can be tucked which will help secure the handle if the spokes are over the extension of the handle. Rim inside and out with 3/8" flat oval, seagrass between the rims, and lash with 11/64" flat oval, X's at the handles. Stain with Weaver's Stain Driftwood and wipe handle after staining.
